“Since all of us are in some way the beneficiaries of cheap fossil fuel, tackling climate change has been like trying to build a movement against yourself”
Everyone should read this. Perhaps it will get through to you. Perhaps our world will finally wake up and do something. I can only hope that my generation will realize that this is a crisis that we need to act on NOW. In all blunt reality, we are already incredibly late on acting, and every day that goes by makes it worse. If you’ve been outside at all this summer, or you’ve turned on the news to watch Colorado burn or the corn wither , you’ll know that it has been hot – really hot, and it’s not going to cool down on its own.
“We’re in the same position we’ve been in for a quarter-century: scientific warning followed by political inaction.”
I fear that we are rapidly reaching the point of no return, and the scary thing is I don’t know what I can do about it. I’m just a 20-year-old, trying to finish my college degree, with limited knowledge and even more limited resources. I can’t do it alone; none of us can. There needs to be a MAJOR shift in attitude and perspective, only then will we begin to make a difference.
